The integration of these lateral connections with the main longitudinal axis creates a soft grid that forms the underlying framework for the project.
The Kartal masterplan site lies at the confluence of important transport links, including the highway connecting Istanbul to Europe and Asia, ferry terminals and port, as well as rail links to the greater metropolitan area. For more detailed breakdown follow the Grasshopper definition above.
The Kartal — Pendik Masterplan is a winning competition proposal for a new city centre on the east bank of Istanbul. The longitudinal direction was imposed via a primary penddik with a series of subsidiary roads running in parallel. It is pretty awesome to see this as an urban tutorial by using grasshopper.
This new city-within-a-city will comprise a central business district, high-end residential development, cultural facilities including concert halls, museums and theatres, alongside a new marina and resort hotels.

The design ties together the existing infrastructure and urban fabric surrounding the site by connecting the major roads emerging from Kartal in the west and Pendik in the east. Exhibition Interior Product Fashion Furniture. Also the second grasshopper file is so big to follow.

Thank you so much for the sharing! The current values used in the sliders are indicative and aim to match visually the original design as maxterplan as possible to my experience.
I was wondering whether this method can be generalised by algorithm… Like Like. It is then refined by deleting the connections which do not meet the criteria: I do pndik it will be awesome to have some Galapagos tutorial along with this example even it would come to another version of this urban design.
The extrusion options are endless. Lateral lines stitch together the major road connections emerging from Kartal in the west and Pendik in the east.

The main idea for the deformed grid is adaptation or integration which ever is more appropriate to the surrounding context. The deformed grid was developed by using the boundary curve of the area of interest ,which was broken into 4 parts- North, East, West and South. As the Kartal Pendik masterplan takes shape, a new urban centre is rising in the city of Instanbul following pendij redevelopment of an abandoned industrial area.
